this has been a strange, strange week. my first news Monday was that my nephew, only a couple months old, was in the hospital with pneumonia. i spent the first half of the week fretting about that, waiting on any news from my family. (he's ok now, and home from the hospital)

last night i stopped by my friend John Paul's to pick him up for kung fu class. when i got there, he wasn't home but his fiance was. when she opened the door she said, "You haven't talked to JP?" I said, "No." She said, "He moved out."

well, he was in fact in class, got himself there. he didn't move out so much as was forced out. she came home from a week-long business trip and told him she didn't love him anymore, broke off the engagement, and kicked him out.

the guy's devastated, and i'm feeling every ounce of his pain. maybe i'm too much of an empath, but i've cried over this, and i'm angry at her for doing this to him.

maybe it's wrong to choose sides when i don't know the story, but he's my friend and i'm taking his side, no matter what.

great big harvest moon last night, it was as unsettling as it was beautiful.

i just finished "American Gods," i wonder if that has anything to do with it...
