a day home from work = a day listening to music. spent some quality time with some stuff i haven't really gotten much chance to listen to yet. some random thoughts on 'em.
Cat Power, You Are Free -- someone at work gave me a copy of this yesterday. excellent stuff, it was nice to hear some rather upbeat numbers on this one.
Kentucky Gag Order -- still as Primus-y as the first listen, although a lot more raw at times than Primus has been in a long time.
At The Drive In -- better upon second listen than the first (first time i turned it off about a minute in). still, the guy's Zack de la Rocha "Say it don't spray it" style delivery grates on me. it's not a style i accept from many people who aren't in a band called Fugazi.
Tomahawk, Mit Gas -- i'd only listened to this twice before today, so i was a little surprised to find myself "singing" along at parts. it's a memorable album, and i think better than the first one...it rocks harder, anyway.
and an old standby, Modest Mouse's The Lonesome Crowded West -- i need a new copy, mine starts skipping right at the end of "Shit Luck." ehh, that's about where the album loses steam anyway.

I love listening to old albums that have sat on the shelves for a while. It really helps you listen to them with fresh ears again.
