I decided to enter Script Frenzy--the contest, exercise, whatever you want to call it--in which participants write a hundred page screenplay in a month.

If you're interested, go to Script Frenzy to find out more.

Anyone else on SG doing this?

Good luck smile I wouldn't know where to begin with something like that smile

I entered a screenplay contest recently. The contest charged a reasonable entry fee ($40), but charged additional, and in my opinion, exorbritant fees for judge's feedback--$60 more for "judge's highlights" and $140 more for full coverage.

Well, I had revised the script recently and I wanted some feedback, so, on impulse, I splurged for the judge's highlights. What a mistake! On a comment sheet riddled...

Seriously, I think you should demand your money back. That guy is a hack.

Anyone who charges for an opinion is an automatic hack.

Having to decide between McCain and Obama, I was reminded of that Woody Allen line about mankind being at a crossroads:"One path leads to despair and utter hopelessness. The other, to total extinction. Let us pray that we have the wisdom to choose correctly."

Actually, I think Woody was entirely too optimistic.

W is finally out of the White House. As Gerald Ford once said:" Our long national nightmare is over."

hahaha. Yes!

And do I, once again, feel a little patriotic? Yes. I have hope for us once again.

I started on a new screenplay, a pulp Western in the Max Brand mold.

I hope it fares better than my last script. I put a lot of work into it and, when it was finished , hardly anyone liked it.

Once again, on the final game of the season, the Marlins eliminated the Mets from post-season play. Unbelievable.

I just received an e-mail informing me that "Bordertown" is a quarter-finalist in the Page International Screenwriting Awards. It was in the top 25% out of almost 4,000 entries.

It's gratifying to finally receive some recognition for all the time and hard work I put into this script.

I don't think I'm going to attend the screenwriter's group anymore. It's a group where members are assigned parts and do a cold reading of other members' scripts. Most of the members are actors, but you'd never know it.

It's painful to hear these so-called actors butcher my work: They mispronounce the words , they step on the jokes, they totally disregard my punctuation. I...

it sucks... but in a way useful.
because you know you'll have to go through that same crap when the script is sold and going through readings with the actual actors hired to portray your characters will be less of a pain in the ass.

...or i could be full of shit

I entered a revised version of "Bordertown" in the Slamdance Screenplay Contest. I received pretty good coverage from them for my previous script "Jilted." The script didn't win a prize, but I'm hopeful that "Bordertown" will fare better this time. I also entered the Final Draft's Big Break screenplay contest. Lord know I could use a break.

I'm getting tons of activity on inktip. Today alone my script received nine log line views (including one from the William Morris Agency), plus one synopsis view and one script view. I'm glad I uploaded my revised script yesterday.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much. Lord knows, I've been disappointed before, but I have to be somewhat optimistic. There appears to...
