I've been working on biographies for my screenplay, "Bordertown." Here's the bio for the main character, Pocho.

Ricardo Martinez Lopez A.K.A. Pocho Martinez, a luchador turned private eye, comes from a family of wrestlers and disillusioned radicals. His grandfather, Juan, was a protest leader, along with the Flores Magn brothers, during Mexico's original student movement in the 1890's. Years later, when the Revolution broke out,...

How about a bad boxer too!?! You could portray him as thinking he is a bad ass, but then getting his ass kicked all over the place in the ring (in a humorous way). Even though he is a bad boxer, but he could be be hired because of his courage and will (and definitely because Pocho feels sorry for him also).

OR... a medley of things he is bad at... yet still couragous? A bad wrestler... a bad boxer... a bad bullfighter... he could get his ass kicked by bigger people... and a huge bull.

I dunno... I'll try think of some more stuff.

Don't foget about the plain white t-shirt/beater that says "loco" on it! biggrin

I like that idea that he helps teach him wrestling.

Once again the Senate Judiciary Committee is permitting a judicial nominee to dodge questions, the answers to which might jeopardize his confirmation.

The Senate Republican Policy Committee claims that judicial candidates are ethically obligated to refrain from answering questions about their views regarding specific cases. However the only authority it cites for this proposition is ABA Model Code of Judicial Conduct 5A(3)(d)(i) and (ii), which...

I was doing a little internet research on Tlatelolco, the Mexico City square and massacre site that figures so prominently in my screenplay, "Bordertown." What do you think I find? Another movie about the Tlatelolco Massacre in production and scheduled for release next year! Check this out Tlatelolco film. And here I thought I was being so original.

People are always quick to accuse...

Below is a treatment of my screenplay, Bordertown. The bracketed portion I just added. It's my tentative third act (resolution). Let me know what you think. Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

Just north of the U.S.-Mexican border, wind whips through a desert town, bending the post of a bilingual sign reading:Welcome to La Frontera, Bienvenidos a La Frontera. The wind rises and begins to wail,...

I decided to make some changes to my screenplay "Bordertown," some major, some minor. First the minor: I've changed some names. Miguel Diaz is now Miguel Guerrero. For some reason, it just sounded better. I also changed Eva's name, since, in Mexico, she wouldn't have the same last name as her husband. Typically, she would drop her maternal surname, add a "de" and then add...

I've been having trouble proceeding with my screenplay "Bordertown." Act I ends with Jon and Pocho arriving at the office of Zorina, the sham psychic, only to find her dead, just as her killer exits a rear window, wailing "Mis hijos," as she disappears into the desert night. Pocho recognizes the ghostly female figure with long hair and hollow eye-sockets as the legendary ghost, La...

As usual, I think that sounds really cool. I could actually see that as a broadway play... much better storyline than most NYC plays!

I really see it as a kick ass movie though.

Thanks for commenting about my dog.

I think it would be cool if she planted something really old dating back to when the actual person (ghost) really existed... then Pacho would have to find out where the item came from and how she got it... and he could run into some shady characters along the way.

Maybe she could kill some relatives of whoever killed her or did whatever to her to make her the weeping woman?

... I don't know... just thinking out loud. I don't know if that helps or not.

I've said it a thousand times, but I really like your writing.
latchbeam:
OK, that makes sense. I speak a little spanish (3 years in high school and 2 years in college, but still not "fluent"), so I did understand the translation. I think that is cool.

I added a new scene to my screenplay "Bordertown." This one comes after Eva hires luchador-turned-detective Pocho to investigate her husband's murder and before the Psychic Zorina leads Jon and Pocho on a fool's errand in San Benito Cemetery. Here Jon and Pocho are called to a motel to investigate a tip. On their way, they're chased by some real bad hombres known as "Los...

Here's another excerpt from my feature film script "Bordertown." I'd really appreciate some feeedback, since I'm not sure how well it works.

In the previous excerpt (in my June 8 journal entry), Eva Diaz hired luchador-turned-detective Pocho Martinez to spy on her adulterous husband, a Mexican politician. In this installment, she hires him to investigate her husband's murder.

INT. POCHOS OFFICE - DAY
Mrs. Diaz,...

This is the synopsis of "Bordertown" I registered with the Writers Guild of America, East:

"Mexican ex-professional wrestler Pocho Martinez runs a private detective agency in the United States in the border town of La Frontera. Eva Diaz, a fan of Pocho from his wrestling days, crosses the border to hire him to investigate the possible adultery of her husband, a candidate for governor of...

I like it.

It has a "Big Trouble In Little China/Ghostbusters" vibe (assuming you meant it to be a comedy)
latchbeam:
That is freaking awesome!!! I love it! I like your characters... very creative and well-defined.
