Just finished "Live and Let Die," Ian Fleming's second novel. It contains some interesting ideas. I especially liked the idea of the villain, Mr. Big, fostering the belief throughout the black criminal underworld that he's the zombie of Baron Samedi, in Voodoo, the loa (spirit) of the dead. In real life, Papa Doc Duvalier, Haiti's self-proclaimed "President for Life," used the belief that he was the incarnation of Baron Samedi to instill fear in the Haitian populace--only Fleming's novel was written three years before Duvalier came to power! Talk about life imitating art.

I'm really getting into the espionage thriller, especially Fleming's books. Anyone have any recommedations?
