It's been a busy month so far, starting with my annual pilgrimage to Donington for the Download festival then "celebrating" my 31st 
birthday & finally going to see Iron Maiden in Paris.
Download was great as usual (apart from it being so damned cold every night ). Highlights were Chimaira, Everytime I Die, Anthrax (who I last saw in 1987!!!) Mastodon, As I lay Dying, Apocalyptica, Flogging Molly, Black Sabbath & most surprisingly, Billy Idol.
Most overrated bands were SOAD (sorry but I just don't get them) & Velvet Revolver (dull) .
The month took a depressing turn on the 15th.
31 Fuck I feel old
Got back from Paris last night after going on an Iron Maiden fan club trip to see them at the Parc des Princes . It was actually my 1st visit to Paris, I've been to France several times but it's always been to the coast or the Alps, I just wish I'd made it there sooner. I usually hate big cities but I fell in love with the place. Did all the usual tourist things (except going up the Eiffel tower as I'm terrified of heights
) Maiden were great although the same can't be said of the support bands, Within Temptation (think Lacuna Coil or Evanescence) & the always appaling Dream Theatre (who should stop doing the whole guitar masterbating thing & try writing some tunes!!)
I've got to go back to real life now though & I don't want to
