I hate my job sometimes, and I wish it were as easy as selling clothes to people or answering telephones.
Everyday I have to deal with people that have no heart or compassion for their pets, and especially this time of year, excuse away their financial state for "just a dog". Or if we really cared about the animals we would give away our services for free.
How wonderful to bring your sick and practically dying pet to a veterinary hospital, let other people clean up his vomit and nurse him through hell and back, come to the hospital at midnight to give medications, sacrific their days off - their holidays - their families, and in the end you get your pet home and happy and healthy. Then you have the fucking audacity to question every little item on our bill and harass us saying that you aren't going to pay the bill now, because you feel it was too expensive.
And honestly, you people who get pets and can't even afford to feed yourself, much less medical care for your companion, and beg for me to make an exception.. as if you are the only person in the world in hard times. You should not have a pet or a leg to stand on for making me feel like the shittiest person in the world because I don't care enough about animals to give you a break.
I work very hard and love the people who love their animals like kids, that my personal opinion on ignorant and irresponsible pet owners is that they should never even come into my hospital.
It appears I have developed some very strong opinions in 7 years, but it has all been a learning experience. I hate wasting my time on people who give their dogs pig ears for treats, use flea collars, and think that their cat's nose being warm and dry is any indication of a serious medical ailment.
Go find a veterinarian whose exam cost $15, and they can do a dental cleaning without anesthesia for $50. They are willing to tolerate incompetance because they are incompetant as well.
