1. Animal updates:
My friend came home from Turkey to find that one of her four cats had been missing for two days. While I was on the phone trying to console her, he walked into her house drenched in motor oil. Someone had dipped him in it. Scary.

There are still two pits (there used to be many more)remaining in the filthy yard across the alleyway from my work. I check on them every day (and bring them treats!) but Animal Control claims there is still not enough evidence of abuse/neglect to seize them. I am totally exasperated. Are fighting scars, fleas,mites, no available food or water and a filthy pile of carpet to sleep on not enough reasons to seize these poor babies? I will keep calling the county until something is done.

My friend finally captured two adorable feral kittens that had been scavenging behind her apartment, after weeks of patience and many cans of tuna fish! They are teeny tiny and still a little skittish, but tolerant of being held and are going to the vet soon!

2. I went to see The Corpse Bride on Friday night. Helena Bonham Carter was a perfect voice for Emily's character. I loved it.

3. Had to laugh at this news: The Catholic church is holding a huge meeting to discuss some 'pressing' issues, such as: Should Catholic political figures still be allowed to take communion if they openly support abortion rights? Should a person still be allowed to take communion if they remarry without first annulling a previous marriage?
Don't they have more important things to worry about? ::cough::sexual abuse claims against priests::cough:

4. Two friends have been in serious bicycle accidents this past month. One of them had to be rushed to the hospital. I was almost hit last night by a lady in a Subaru wagon loaded with kids. It was barely dark outside yet and I was wearing two hideously bright blinking lights. What the fuck!?

5. SG Burlesque is coming to town! I am all kinds of excited. Does anyone know who is on this tour? I bet I can find that out if I actually look for it on the site.
