I am in the planning stages for a new video project I am going to be working on. It will be my first foray into producing and directing a professional production. I know I will stumble many times with it, most likely with all the paperwork I will need to file/fill out to make certain everything gets done correctly.

Just to clarify to those that may be concerned, I am not stopping production on 'Gothiphilia'. I will still be working on it when I can as I work on the new project. At the moment I need to take a break from it and re-orient my mind and emotions around it. I've hit nearly every conceivable roadblack with it since I started it and need to sit back and plan out it's path rather than stumbling around like I have been. I hope to shoot more footage of those that are already in it and I hope to find more erotica/fetish models to shoot photos for it as well as more with those that already have.

My new project will center around some of the best dark tribal belly dancers in the Bay Area. I will be taking the dancers off the stage and out of the studio and placing them in a variety of locations of their choosing to dance. And they will not just be dancing within these places, but dancing with them.

Because their performaces will be filmed, they do not need to project their movements to the audience at the back of the theatre, their performances can be more nuanced with emotion and gesture. The dances can also be more than just shimmy and snake arms, but be emotive as well as character and/or story driven. Their audience (the camera) will not be in a fixed location but can move anywhere they want them to be, even above them. Their dance floor doesn't need to be flat and empty; it can have trees and columns, stairs and narrow hallways, ledges and pits. The dancers can roam anywhere they want in the world.

I already have some dancers and some crew members interesed in joining in this project and will be having my first informative meeting with them in a week in half. I am looking forward to this. To feel the energy of the collective talent and wonderful personalities of all these people. I also feel this is something I need. It's been a long time since I've been surrounded by such postive, creative emotion that I know will it drive and feed my own creative forces and positive energy.

I hope to start filming at the beginning of next year.

The only two things that this project... this journey is missing: A name and support.

A name is needed to rally behind; an identity to this artistic endevour. And those that know me, know I have a terrible time at naming things. Once named, I will start on creating a website and a Facebook fan page.

The journey needs to be supported; not just monetarily, but also with services, skills, items and championing. Though, alas, money is important as equipment needs to be purchased, rights need to be bought and people do need to be paid. I plan on creating a Kickstarter account once I figured out more about what I will need and will let everyone know when it is set up, but I have also created a Paypal account for those that may be interested in donating before then. The email is: bellydance @ gothiphilia.com

Once I have everything worked out, I will create an incentive program for those that have and those that will contribute. No one will be forgotten.

If you want to help in another way; if you have equipment to donate, skills to offer, services to provide, please let me know.

And, we would be most thankful if you could spread the word if you can.

If this journey goes well, this journey will happen again and go further with more travelers.
rpg:
I love the concept behind your new bellydance project. I don't have enough money to contribute, but I certainly would be interested in buying a copy of the finished project. Good luck with it all.
