The National Gallery of Art is big. Even with the Dutch masters section closed for renovations, it took me most of their hours of openness to see it. And I don't think I saw all of the smaller, lower level either, because by the time I made it over there, my orienteering skills were fried. Plus, the doors had no labels down there, unlike the main floor. Overall, though, I liked it more than the gaudy, first against the wall when the Revolution comes ambiance of the Hermitage.

The eastern annex they have was quite a spectacle. It's a modern city-of-tommorrow style, executed in marble and not unattractive in parts. In darkness, it would have made an excellent set for a final showdown with Skynet, or something of the sort. robot ooo aaa I believe I described it as "pre-jangled for excellent ruination." I now wish I had seen the auditoriums; they might have been better.

Can't complain about the price, though. I sure got my money's worth. biggrin

Between the closed part and some of DC's private art museums, I figure there's enough to tide me over until the Smithsonian reopens the American Art Museum.
