Feels like fall is almost here, and I am thrilled.

My effort to keep my book population below replacement rate isn't doing too well, but the unread book population still seems to be trending down, so I'm not totally drowning in text. Yet.

Kurasawa and the Kennedy Center itself were awesome, but goddamn, the British Foreign Office was right. This place is a tropical post.

The book in question was The Folly of Empire: What George W. Bush Could Learn from Theodore Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, and it played to a packed house. Because the movie scheduling people aren't 100% accurate, I saw the movie I mentioned in my last journal again. It was okay, but some of the jokes have surprise punchlines, so they aren't that funny the second time around. The tap dance number at the end has me convinced that at least a few other people understand what music was meant to be.

This past weekend was pretty good. While not exactly like the synopsis made it sound, Zatoichi and the Chest of Gold was pretty good. The sight gag that was also a pun was nicely done. Hope the recent remake makes its way here soon.

What a good soaking rain that was! Even if I did get caught in it, it was worth it.

In other news, Bangkog 8 is proving to be worthy of the recommendation Hiasen gave it.

Work has had me very wound up for the past few weeks, but yesterday it got a lot better. Today, laundry.
