Turn-based and real-time strategy games are very entertaining but can sometimes be taken a little to seriously, which then often gives rise to extreme absurdities as more-and-more ingenious tactics are developed to give that all-important advantage on the battlefield, and these tactics are treated as precious commodities and traded with due solemnity. This tip from a friend on how to despatch a particularly fearful foe has to be my all-time favourite:
i was reading, and the best way to get rid of a war elephant, is to get a tar covered pig, set fire to it and catapult it at the feet of the elephant, it then goes mad and runs around the elephant setting it on fire, or sumin like that
