I purchase a lot of tat, a hell of a lot in fact. I have an amazing collection of tat. Army surplus tat is a particular favourite. I keep my oil painting rags in fireproof ammo crates, have enough pairs of hand and leg cuffs to supply a small Police State, often wear died black scrim nets for that mercenary-ghoul-for-hire-out-on-the-town look, have black camo netting bedecking the canopy of our rather nifty tomb-like bed and generally find that olive-green dyes black in a pinch. Oh, and I bought everyone groovy Russian military/police dog tags as cracker gifts last Christmas....
I often purchase surplus stuff just because it is weird/cool/nasty/can be used as a prop in one of my paintings. Here is such an item from my latest order from Springfields Army Stores that I snatched up for next to nothing.
Russian Gas Mask. Unused GREY rubber gas mask . These were made in the late 80s for civilian use in Russia.
