Do you ever go back and read all your old entries? God it can be embarrassing. I wonder, if i had the sort of insight into the present that i have into the past, would i be just as embarrassed about the things i'm saying/thinking/doing now?

No. The past is the past. No use crying over spilled horses, or closing the barn door AFTER the milk has escaped. Or something.

Okay, squishylizards, good point. People reading my old entries was the exact opposite of my intended effect.

So BeautifulGirl is in kind of a shitty mood lately partly because one of her best friends turns out to have a meth problem. Which kind of puts me in a shitty mood because ultimately i'm not sure there's a whole lot we can do for this girl. She's not going to be able to make rent this month (BG's friend, Hilda) and will probably...

well, in any case, can't wait to meet the young lady.

that whole situation sounds awfully familiar. i have a friend in the same boat, and ther is nothing that we can do, because he isn't willing to make an effort. he just stopped caring about himself. if you figure out how to wake this girl up, i could sure use some pointers

So i said i was extremely. happy the other night, and i suppose i should offer some explanation, for my own sake. It's just damn cool to be doing something you love with people you love, to feel like you're not Wasting Time, to have good friends with whom you can hang out for no reason other than the friendship itself, and with whom you...

your cheerfulness here certainly helped put me in a good mood. there's something in the air the past few days, almost everyone i know is pretty happy for once. maybe there's some kinda happy gas leaking from the air force base.
i certainly can't think of any other explanation.
coliwali:
Have you seen a movie called Darkstar? I just watched it, it seemed very much like your kind of film.

Hey it's cool that you're feeling good. Even if you don't exactly know why.

So Squishy's entry reminded me of a poem i came across several months ago, which seems appropriate to this time of year.

Explosions In The Sky

They called us at the very last.
Those bastards, they knew we had no chance to respond.
Words like tiny explosions in the sky.
It seemed they should have meant something.
Desperately, they flared up, lingered for a moment,...

I am a hot girl. The picture in my profile? It is very, very sexy and alluring. Everybody, post in my journal and pretend like you care about what i have to say! Cleverly disguise your selfish lust in layer upon layer of wit and charm! I will return the favor by 'leading you on'. I will let you all think i'm sincerely 'looking for'...

I am mutable. I suppose that should be more depressing than it is.
supergp:
mutable. adj. Capable of or subject to change or alteration.

depressing. vt. To lower in spirits; deject.

Depression would seem to be a subset of mutable, then.

So...

Have you considered the benefits of being a rock superstar? Live large? Big house? Blah blah? You're oblong?

Yeah, so i did some reading by C.S. Lewis to calm down a bit. Also because i think i'm supposed to be reading, like, ahh, Nicomachus or something, and i don't happen to have him on my shelf ATM.

To calm down a bit. Put things...

So i'm leafing through this old journal of mine, my only one really, from about 4 years ago. And what's depressing me is i could have written this shit yesterday. Different girl, different town.

You'd think i'd have learned by now.

Saw the elusive Coliwali at long last. Had a few beers, dizzied up a _few_ girls. Me and Coliwali - painting the town red....

I mean, seriously, what the fuck? I'm getting a little Oregon Trail vibe, I've got something about battlements and IHOP, and I guess you've met some chick.

A slim
young fascist
fresh from the Hole
slid into me
murdered me
with his eyes
and said, "Man,
why ain't you
doing something?"

All night
I sat up
All night
Wrote 5,000 words
explaining how
I
was doing something

but the slim cat--
beautiful fascist
didn't buy
it--nor
did I
completely.
