kittyp's latest journal entry has got me in a slightly political mood, so I think I'll talk about it a little. Specifically, I'd like to talk a little about the choices we have here in the UK. I dunno why, that's just what I have on my mind.

In the red corner we have Labour. Straight off the bat, this is probably who I'll vote for. This is partly "better the devil you know..." and partly the fact that they're needed to make some hard choices, have Tony and Gorden, and they haven't done too badly.

In the blue corner we have the Torries. Hhhhmmm. In recent years Labour seem to have become a little more conservative... and the Torries, it seems, have done the same thing in reaction. They're starting to resemble the BNP*, in fact. Also, thanks to "Bremner, Bird and Fortune" I now find Micheal Howard utterly terrifying. I really hope I'm not thinking what they're thinking...

In the yellow corner we have the Lib Dem's. I dunno about these guys... I don't think "Oh come on, it's our turn" is a good campaign stratergy and I'm worried by the fact that as far as I know they've never been the ruling party.

And in the gray corner (according to the graph I saw on the news) we have all the others. The green party have the right idea about a lot of things and it would be good if they had more influence... but I can't help thinking that putting them in charge of the whole country would not be a good idea. And then there's the BNP. Explicitely saying that they should all be deported (now that is what I call "irony") would be a bit facist of me, so I'll settle for just implying it.

I'm over simplifying here. I'm aware of that.

On a non political note, I got some work done on my term paper and made progress on my summer project today. Yay me. Also, I watched Cassanova and really enjoyed it. It's dumbed down but it's well written. If they can't get Richard E Grant for Doctor Who, then I suppose David Tennet will do.

*Note for non brits: BNP = British National Party. Think the KKK as a political party and you won't be too far from the truth. "Britain for the british". I can see saying that might get me into trouble...

The Lib Dems (they were called the Whigs for slang) use to be the oppossing party to the Torries at one point before the Labour party existed, they were in power a fair few time. They were in at the begining of the 1900's cos i remeber doing emensly dry boring stuff on them in history a couple of years back.

Theres one cure for the BNP and thats bullets, and lots of them! wink

Its fun to be a dirty communist.
