Homework & Blog Update 🔥

Hello lovelies! First of all, thank you all SO MUCH for the love on my new set Wombat Bridge!

I'm so overehelmed by all the love, especially since I just turned 40!! Omfg!! Had a lovely backyard party with 3 fires, lots of tequila, beer, & bongs. Here was the shopping trolley

We live in a rural part of Australia, & it is a bit of an effort to get out to ours. But, @flagg @exkyu & @countessa all came out to ring in the occassion & it was heaps of fun. So, I'm getting excited, because I'm going overseas soon, and thought I'd do a little blog/homework combo! @missy @rambo @lyxzen & @charmaine had homework from long ago, "Show us your hidden talent." Well, it's not so hidden, but with so many new followers I thought I'd share. I wrote a blog awhile back, about my glass. There's some images of my work if you click on the link. I've been a glass artist for 19 years now. In a couple of weeks I'm going to this awesome place called Pilchuck Glass School which is North of Seattle, Washington, in America. I've been living in Australia since 1999, originally coming here to go to Art School, & study glass. I consider myself an Aussie now, & have dual citizenship. As an artist, I have been going to Pilchuck over the years, in different capacities, as a student, staff member, and teaching assistant. I haven't been over in 9 years, so I'm SO FUCKING EXCITED YOU GUYS!! When I'm there, I will be helping my friend teach a sculpting class, so we will have so much fun hey. It's for almost 3 weeks, & you are on a 100 acre tree farm, amoungst other crazy glass artists, and are fed and housed in these cute little cabins. Before I go into glass and Rainier Beer seclusion for 3 weeks, I'm spending 2 nights in LA catching up with my mates, having a sesh with @rocairs and maybe hitting up Disneyland! So, I live in a community of awesome glass blowers, here in Australia, some of the best in the world. I'm lucky enough to get to live and work with one. 😊 The other day we were making these giant clear cylinders for an artist in Melbourne:

That's what we get up to sometimes when we work for other people. I met my old man at art school, and we blow glass and raise 2 kids together. We are in the process of building a studio at home. We have both made lots of glass blowing equipment and have the materials to build a few things here, in our 2 sheds.

We've also been traveling and teaching glassblowing Internationally over the years. Glass has taken me to Japan, Italy, Scotland, Switzerland, America, & Australia. I'm so fucking lucky to have found a trade I love to work in, and a material that is so wonderful to work with. The tools for glassblowing haven't changed much in a thousand years..

We also have been setting up our metal working equipment in our shed to make specialised glassblowing tools. I love working with my hands and getting dirty. When I'm making my own stuff, it's about finding the technique that will fulfil the concept. Glass is so diverse, it can be used in many different ways, & over the years, even though I trained as a lamp worker and glassblower, I learned other techniques along the way, like casting & kilnforming. My work is pretty sculptural, and I enjoy using other mediums as well. If you're too lazy to click on the Glass link above, here's a couple of my pieces:

I also like to make functional stuff, like these little tumblers..

Hope that you've all enjoyed hearing about my Glass 'Hidden Talent'. I'll keep you updated on what's happening over the next couple of weeks before I go with more boobs 👌❤️💛💚💙💜 Xoxo Harvest
