I had an odd dinner tonight. I had taken a number of pictures at a local old folks home for ads. The public relations guy gave me a free dinner pass for 2. This old folks home isn't an assisted living facility, but nicer apartments for still able bodied seniors. They also have a restaurant that holds various functions from time to time. I forgot I had the pass until last week and it expired on Wednesday. I orginally asked the girl who is the lifestyles editor at the paper to go with me, but something came up and she was unable to go. I wanted her to go because the idea of eating at an old folks home is a little odd and she knew what the place was like at least.
One of my other friends was a real sport about the whole idea and she went with me instead. When we got there, we were the youngest people eating in the place by about 40 years. Also our table was smack in the middle so it felt like everyone was looking at us. On the plus side the food was really good. My friend was saying that the whole experience seemed a little weird and that people were watching us. I played it cool and tried to pretend that it wasn't. When we were in her car to leave, I told, "Thank you for going and that was really weird." We both just burst out laughing.
