Ministry blew.
They played mostly new stuff that sounded like bad Slayer. I saw them at the Dome Theater in Niagara Falls last night. I do give them some credit for not falling into the trap of playing songs from their glory years 0f 1990 - 3, but the new material isn't very interesting. What made the old stuff compelling was that the songs were actually good. They had distinct parts, lyric and samples. The bulk of the show was a non - stop assualt of crappy metal. I find this ironic since Ministry helped wipe out the candy assed glam metal that was dominating the late 80s and early 90s. They seemed small and generic, instead of the big menacing Al Jourgenson I remember from the first couple years of college. He's supposed to be one bad dude, but the band and stage show looked like every other band that screams a lot at the Warped Tour. The bones on the microphones looked fake and spray painted. I went with a some friends and it was a good time, but not a good show.
The Revolting Cocks opened. Their joke got old kind of fast. And the played a piss poor version of Bauhaus' Dark Entries. Having seen the real deal a week earlier, it was even lamer. They looked like a bunch of WWF wrestlers.
Oh, well.
