Had a good time with the friend. Talking and having drinks.

Turns out her situation is far more complicated than I'd thought. We work in a fairly tight community, gossip-wise, and it turns out people were far more in the dark than was known. Don't want to go too far into detail for respect's sake, but 1)They are still married and living together (although in separate rooms and without wearing rings), and 2) They aren't in a situation where they can easily move forward either way until he works on himself.

My level of respect for her has increased a lot, and my heart goes out to her.

I'm now enjoying my first day off since January 7th. That day I flew back from Illinois, where I was helping my family (my dad was having health problems, and my brother was still dealing with the aftermath of his wife/2children's mother dying six weeks before). I only bring that up to underline how long it's been since I've been able to relax fully.

I've spent all day in bed, on the computer and watching The West Wing. I may go for a beer with friends later. I plan on doing very little that is productive, and staying out of this, the last truly cold day of the year.
