This weekend I went to Berlin for the Berlin Inline Skating Marathon. The race was on saturday in the afternoon at 4pm. Unfortunately it started raining around 2pm. Until friday it was almost summer. This picture was taken on Friday at Berlin Tempelhof Airfield where I picked up my starter documents for the marathon.

And this is the Brandenburger Tor at around 2pm on saturday 2 hours before the race.

It only stopped raining for about half an hour when the marathon was started at 4pm but for most of the time during the race it was raining.

Fortunately I did not buy new wheels for my skates the day before. That would have been a waste of a hundred euros. Even better than wasting a hundred bucks for speed wheels, that only work on dry roads, is bringing rain wheels although the weather forecast was perfectly fine when I traveled to Berlin.

Thanks to my rain wheels is was much quicker than my first marathon in rain in 2007. I was even quicker than my first marathon ever but much slower than my fastest time. Last year I finished in 1:42h and this year it took 1:54h.
Also thanks to the rain wheels I did not crash or fell during the race. I saw a couple of skater fall pretty hard and after finishing I even saw a guy who looked like he used his face for breaking
