I think the scariest thing it the my life happened to me today. I was with my friend Jenna who's in the hospital I work at and they were trying to ween her off her ventilator. About ten mins. after they took her off it her heart stopped. I've been in codes before but never with someone I've known. So they are breathing for this 19 year old girl and there are nurses injecting her with meds to start her heart. The doctor who is also my childrens doctor was kneeling on the bed pounding on her chest. So I'm standing there thinking that I can't let myself cry. Her mother was there and I was the only one who could be there for her right then. I usually have no problem holding back my emotions when it comes to work but this was a situation that I've never been in. It was really very hard. They finally did get her heart beating again after about 20 mins. By then the caplin and a social worker had come to be with her mother so I said good bye to her and Jenna. I went to our break room and cried.
