Old Francois looked like he must have been quite the ladies man back in his day. He still had a full head of thick hair now gray with white around the temples, a Grecian nose set between dark chocolate brown eyes and lips perfect for holding the customary cigarette I never saw him without. Dressed in a tattered pea coat that brought out his shoulders and a scarf that had seen better days he sported a kind of bohemian look that had Jack Kerouac quotes dancing in my head.

I once asked him if he currently had any one special in his life, and he told me without looking up from his painting, "I loved some one once and it was too much for me, I am still in recovery."
