Things are going pretty good right now. My niece, who will turn two next month, has stopped calling me Unca and now calls me Unco Bob. Unfortunately, my name isn't Bob. My Uncle Bob visited from Chi-town a few weeks back and met Ember at a big family barbeque we had with my cousins in Fairfield. I am hoping she is calling me Bob because it is probably easier to say then my actual name, Seth.
It was really funny the other day. I stopped by my folks house while my mom was babysitting Ember. She came running up to me "Unco, Unco, Unco...Bob!" I told her Uncle Bob is in Chicago, I am Uncle Seth, can you say Uncle Seth?
"Unco ...Bob!"
"No, Uncle Seth, come on Ember, say Uncle Seth."
"No, ya Unco Bob!
"No, I'm Uncle Seth"
"No, ya Unco Bob!"
At this point, although I really wanted her to get my name right, I was starting to laugh a good bit which caused her to start giggling, so I decided to concede to her better debating skills and go look at the wonderful drawings she had done in crayon with her Grandma.
While I was there, my mother told me she saw my old high school chemistry partner. He is back in town and helping out at his family's cafe where my folks like to go for breakfast on the weekends. We don't know each other that well, but had a great time in chem class together and it has always been great running into him time and again and catching up. He is interested in signing up for computer classes at the adult school I am going to, this week we start POWERPOINT!, so I think I might pick up a course schedule and swing by the cafe.
