i'm listening to some old loops i made on fruity loops and came across two totally awesome covers i'm gonna bring back out, and thought i'd share some interesting (to me at least) stuff.
two songs i covered last summer, both favorite songs of mine, both pretty hard to sequence. "message in a bottle" by the police (probably my favorite song ever) and "pillars" by sunny day real estate.
what i felt like sharing was the astounding number of parts each song has.
for message in a bottle, i realized i had made 101 (yes a hundred and one) different loops to make the song. keep in mind, i sequenced the entire song note for note, drums and all, so listen to the "regatta de blanc" version's drums and understand why it took 101 different parts.
for pillars, it only takes 39 loops, but that also includes the "e-bow" parts played during the beginning and throughout the song. i had to do the changes by ear since a lot of them go without any drum parts. listen for the high pitched feedback sound on the version from "how it feels to be something on" and KNOW.
just a little curious information from me, probably doesn't pose much interest for anyone else but hey, it's my journal, right?
