if anyone in SG land knows why my cd-rw/dvd-rom i just installed won't work, i would be greatly appreciative if you could enlighten me as to how to make it work.

i first installed it on the secondary IDE as the slave, and the original CD-rom as the master. this worked as far as watching a dvd on the drive, but the cd-rw wouldnt work at all. it wouldnt recognize blank media. i've since realized that i didn't set up the driver and that was probably the cause.

however, before i realized this, i changed the setup to the cdrw/dvdrom being the master and the cdrom being the slave, but then the cdrw wouldnt read anything at all.

i did some switching back and forth and also tried a dual slave isnce it's on the secondary ide, but that just frze the computer.

i've uninstalled and reinstalled the nero 5.5 that came wiht it, but to no avail.

lastly, i put it on the primary ide with the hard drive as the master and the cdrw/dvdrom as the slave, also to no avail. thus far it reads NOTHING.

i'm going to have to call a professional tomorrow bt i dont want to have to pay for it. if anyone knows why this is so messed up, please let me know.
