there was a newswire post about a possible brad pitt remake of bullitt.
and i was genuinely surprised at how poorly i took the news.
i'm a hardcore, die hard mustang man. i have an '86 hatch 5.0 with a 5 speed and i have grand plans. i also have an '89 hatch four banger for parts. i just love the design, the peower, hell, the sound of a good mustang.
and for someone like me, gone in 60 seconds (new and old) and bullitt are iconic memories, which serve to make me want a powerful 'stang even more.
but to see anyone but mcqueen, whose blonde, blue-eyed, almost innocent-looking image inspires the macho guy in all of us, racing his ultra-suave (and low-key, to boot) 2+2 down the hills and streets of san fran, i just can't see it and not feel bad about it.
yeah, sure, it's a charger vs a mustang, and the new charger and new mustang are both equally badass and cool, but there's a certain nostalgia that the new cars just can't quite get past, in my mind.
either way, i'd watch it i suppose, but i doubt highly that i'd see a remake in the theater.
