So... for those that don't know... yesterday was not only the birthday of

Barbara Walters - *claps and looks around with a stupid grin*
Catherine Zeta-Jones AND Michael Douglas - (boy is that weird)
Mark Hamill - (these aren't the presents you're looking for)
Christopher Reeve - *tips hat**salutes**bows*
Will Smith - *thumbs up*
and Heather Locklear - *boing*

it was also my Birthday and more importantly...

My Mom's

Yup... I was born on my Mom's birthday

She came out to L..A. and we got to spend time together on our birthday for the first time in 6 years.

Because of the coincidence of our birth I have always been in the habit of giving my Mom a gift on "my" birthday and I decided that when I have kids I will have them give a gift to their Mom on their birthday..since she did all the work...

And in 200 years this will be a Sparks family tradition.

I also wanted to thank everybody for the Birthday wishes. It feels really great to hear from you all. I appreciate it more than you know

on a personal note....

I treat my Birthday as New Years and do my New Year resolutions and goal setting and planning for the year on that day. Leave it to the guy who doesn't party to have a working birthday..but.. it's what I love to do... ANYWAY

I usually set a tone for the coming year and give the year a title...

Like "The Year of Living Dangerously"

or "The Year of Regeneration"

Or "The Year of Corn"..I kid

well...this year is gonna be great one... I can't tell you the title that's personal but

as soon as I realized what the theme of this year was... my phone started ringing.. I mean that second... It startled me because it was an assigned ring for someone I had not spoken to in over a year. My heart leapt. I thought it was a mistake. You know how sometimes you set your phone to charge and that automatically changes the ring? I thought maybe but no..

We talked for almost an hour and then I had to go (I had a radio interview to do).

Where there had been misunderstanding...there is now kindness

Where there had been hurt... there is now respect

Where there had been anger... there is now peace

It was a great birthday gift

I hope each of you gets one of these for your Birthday

It's the coolest. It's like the new Cabbage Patch kid. Everybody's gotta have it

I wish you all a beautiful week

Love,

Hal
