a hearty hello to anyone who finds themselves reading this.
a bit about myself by way of introduction i'm guessing is appropriate, this being my first entry, and all:
i'm origionally from the portland area, although i'm currently residing in japan. i wish i could say that i'm here under different circumstances, but i'm stationed here onboard a destroyer in the united states navy. i'm approaching the end of my four-year term -- finally -- and am currently involving myself in the application and enrollment processes to get into school upon the completion of my obligation. you know, get all my ducks in a row, as they say. as you might imagine, i'm quite looking forward to returning home.
so i've been living in japan for over a year now, and i haven't for the life of me been able to get even a toe-hold on the japanese language. this is perhaps excusable as eight months of the year was spent in the middle of the ocean, but that notwithstanding, meeting people i can communicate with has been rather an exercise in futility.
so thats my case, i guess. feeling a little stranded, and trying out sg as the medium for my message in a bottle if you can appreciate the metaphor.
more will follow -- i'll try and get a picture downloaded if i can rise above my technological ineptitude.
fnord!
