Still it was necessary to take a little time to digest the whole enchilada, after all this was the conclusion to a 28 year experience in my life!
The following is the unabashed truth, at least in my eyes that is.....
WE DON'T NEED FUCKING NINJA R2D2 - that was the dumbest shit EVER. Artoo was a better fucking fighter in this movie than Darth Vaders stunt double was in the first two movies!!
HAYDEN CHRISTIANSENS TURN FROM "SPOILED BRAT" TO "EVIL SPOILED BRAT" IS NOT THE STUFF LEGENDS ARE MADE OF!!! Kudos to Hayden for having the guts to attempt a role that was guaranteed from day one to be over-scrutinized and earn him a lot of bad press from fans who can never truly be satisfied.
MAJOR CONTINUITY ERROR, PLEASE STEER THIS PLOT AROUND THE POTHOLE!!! In Return of the Jedi Leia talks about remembering her REAL mother as sad and beautiful - in Revenge of the Sith her REAL mother dies in childbirth! WHAT-THE-FUCK!!!!
That's the tip of the iceberg, because I'm a die hard and I can find fault in set dimensions being inconsistent with previous films because I'm just that anal BUT on the flip side of things......
IAN MCDIARMID IS MY HERO!!! His performance as Vice Chancellor Palpatine is the best role in SIX MOVIES!!! And to top it off listen to his voice, it is the VOICE OF GOD!
THE FUTURE IS NOW! Lucas and his people do an amazing job of blending the visuals in this movies with images you see in A New Hope, a movie that took place some 19 years later in the timeline. From a scene onboard Leia's ship "The Tantive", to the awfully familiar Tie-fighter-esque new design of the Jedi Starship, complete with Empire insignia on the wings this movie makes you believe you are finally in the same neighborhood as the ones you grew up with.
BEST LIGHTSABER DUEL EVER!!! Nuff said.
Believe it or not folks my verdict on the film is that this is most definitely a must see for fans ranging from the casual to the dogmatic. This is truly a fitting final peice to the feature film lifespan of this story. All that's left to be done now in the first six movies is filler, which is exactly why I'm excited about Lucas announcement of the upcoming TELEVISION SERIES!!! You could call it Star Wars Episode 3.5 but that doesn't do it justice since he's mentioned the possibility of moving forwards AND backwards throughout the lifespan of the galaxy. Wanna know what Yoda did after leaving Leia and before going to Dagobah? Wanna know what Han Solo was talking about when he mentiond Ord Mantell on Hoth? Wanna see the rise of the New Jedi Academy, or maybe the Sith wars? It's not over till it's over folks, long live Star Wars!
