TGIF! For a short week this past one felt kinda long. I had the previous week off though so that might have been part of it. I stayed in town for my vacation but the week was busy enough all the same. I tried to get some spring cleaning and odd jobs done but I sprained my finger on the first day so that didn’t help. I did see Deadpool finally though which was great. It lived up to the hype and was super entertaining.
I also went to the Canadian Screen Awards the Sunday before last and hung out on the red carpet. I met a lot of the presenters and nominees (Bruce McCulloch, Martin Short, Eugene Levy and the cast of Schitt’s Creek, Megan Follows and the cast of Reign) but most of my photos turned out less than ideal. Here are a few of the better ones from after the show anyway.

On the Friday my parents came down to drop off an AC unit they’d bought me so I visited with them for a bit before heading to a concert. High Jinx, a local synthpop band, was playing as part of a free show so I couldn’t pass that up. Their set was lively as always and they ended things off with a Devo cover. Good times were had.
That weekend was Toronto Comicon as well so I hit it up despite the unimpressive guest list. I didn’t bother with autographs or photos at all but I did a bit of shopping and caught a few panels which were interesting. At Robbie Amell’s Q&A he revealed that the recent season of X-Files was never meant to leave off on a cliffhanger. They had written seven episodes but only had time to film six of them in the end. The mini-series was supposed to set up a spin off as well but that never came to be either.
I also met up with local hopeful @ellie on the last day of the show. She’s a talented cosplayer and an all-around cool peep. Seeing her is always a highlight of con season. Somehow we missed crossing paths on Friday and Saturday though so I’ve thrown in some pics from previous shows instead.
To cap off the week not only did Deftones release a new track but three of my favourite Japanese groups put out new videos too:
