It feels so great when you roll consistently well, let alone have your best night of bowling ever. Our league team is middle of the pack and probably not going to win anything, but we went through a number of weeks where we had at least one vacant spot, which hurt us. The last three weeks we've all been there rolling, and we've pretty much taken 3 out of 4 every time. We roll three games, and the last game is decided by total score. Last night felt really good for me. First game was a 162, then 157, then 167. Usually if I roll a 150-something or higher my next two games are around 110 or 120, but I kept my numbers up last night. What makes it feel even better is that the first two weeks of league I SUCKED. I was rolling below 100 and embarassing myself. Now that I'm rolling so well (knock on wood) and better than I ever have before it feels great. With my handicap being so high it makes things better for our scores. I feel kind of bad when I start rolling well, because I tend to ignore the other team. My teammates are alway congratualting the other team whenever they get spares or strikes, and I do too, but when I start getting into a groove I tend to retreat into my own shell. It's not that I'm ignoring the other team or wishing them ill will. It's just that I'm trying to stay focused.
Five great song lyrics, not necessarily all-time greatest:
1) "Could you put a name to someone else's sigh?
Could you put a face to someone else's eye?
Is it someone that you'd maybe recognize?
But it all fades into morning when you open your eyes"
Belle and Sebastian, "Dirty Dream #2"
2) "And I'm certain if I drive into those trees
It will make less of a mess than you've made of me"
Rainer Maria, "Broken Radio"
3) "Tomorrow there will be another number
For the one who had a name
A desert wind and a perverse desire to win
History buried in shame"
Stars, "Celebration Guns"
4) "I carved your name across my eyelids
You prayed for rain, I prayed for blindness"
Arcade Fire, "The Crown of Love"
5) "And if a double-decker bus crashes into us
To die by your side is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck kills the both of us
To die by your side, well the pleasure, the privelege is mine"
The Smiths, "There Is A Light That Never Goes Out"
