I really don't mind a guy telling me that at all. Besides, gay men tend to have better taste than anyone else, so it becomes a better compliment, lol. Okay, there are a lot of gay men with bad taste, sorry about the stereotype, fucking Queer Eye show has me brainwashed into cultural stereotypes.

you know what? i was having the exact same thoughts about the whole MA gay marriage campaign timing thing and wondering if this was a way to redirect the issue. i mean, it may be hoping for more than possible -- such foresight in any legislative body, especially around such a contested issue, is unusual -- BUT, if any state we're thinking on their liberish toes it would be MA i think. i hope may be more like it. i am sad about SF, but at least the rulling has ambiguous wording, you know? there is hope yet. last night i saw this woman from the concerned women for america (on the 20/20 w/ rosie's wife) talking about how gay marriage cheapens marriage. thank goodness they made the point that plenty of hets "cheapen" marriage every day and no one is protesting them or making admendments that affect them. gah, she was such a wench. that organization is terrifying though. one things is for sure, no matter what tide the country takes, NC will cling to its fundamentalist roots for as long as possible.

on to more pleasant things - yay for the link. i will check yr stuff out for sure. dark=good. and no, my crazy self has not yet picked up silk. but i wrote it down, so that is half the battle, right?

Wow...sci-fi convention! I had forgotten about that. Have you attended any up there before? I remember them being held at the Hynes... I lived two blocks away and never got my ass over there.

wow - eyes sound really super amazing. although, i must admit a certain love of billy idol - in a limited context, of course, but still - it IS a nice day for a white whedang (i figure that was how he spelled it at the time). it does sound totally revolutionary and ahead of its time - always a cool thing. i do love a villianess in pvc - or really any babe in pvc will do.

how great that you had a groovy spin session. it reminds me how much i miss the scene in boston. sooo many places to hang out and dance, do all sortsa cool queer activities, really be involved et all. there is stuff here, and i don't do enough of it, but its a very different vibe. ah, well, too much reminiscing is dangerous.

as for my wee pupsters - you know, i wish that they discounted earlier counter cultures in some sort of grasp for their own sense of rebellious authenticity, but i fear its something far more sinister. seriously, these kids are among the most homogenized folks i have ever seen. their attitude towards school seems to be much more the consumer model - i pay money, you tell me stuff, i regurge in paper, you give me A. intellectual curiousity seems to be at an all time low - its shocking to me! i remember in high school we used to debate philosophy, watch underground/cult movies, and everyone knew about at least the big counterculture figures of yore. now even the punk or goth kids (and those are few) tend not to know about the history of their own style. of course, there are exceptions from my few beloved freak geniuses to the mainstreamers with curious, clever minds, but on the whole there is little intellectual energy. to me, these discussions are relevant to life, to thinking, to growing. to many of them, its the hour and fifteen minutes to survive before lunch, a nap, and binge drinking. woo.

not to be apocalyptic, because there is always hope. i firmly believe that even if you don't see kids grow before yr eyes, if you challenge them it will spark growth - or at least questioning. and yet ... i don't know ... maybe its the current entertainment industry or the megacorping of so many things ... maybe because these are 80s babies. but, when no one in the class gets even the tiniest aha moment out of a disucssion of Marxism and ideology - not even to oppose it - then i am concerned. however, the discussion did liven up once we got going, so perhaps by the end of this semester we can get a good game of name that ideology going.

Wow! Now that's a marathon! That's crazy cool! And since Arachnequarius brought it up 3-D photography is SO cool! There was a Lomo model available on-line for a while that I'd drooled over...figured it'd make a worthy start. Thought about it too long & it disappeared...not that I did an in-depth investigation. I got a new 4 megapixel so, can't complain. Thanks, as always, for the knod comments!
