SG Boston show review:
First of all, I don't think the organizers were expecting such a jam-packed sold out spree on a Monday night. Kudos all round to everyone who put the show together for filling the house! It was an action filled event!

On a personal note, what made the night for me was the chance to meet some of the SG Boston folk, and that was great. There were some really wonderful people in attendance. While I wasn't able to show up at the after-party (thanks for the invite, strio!), I hope that there are other occasions for SG Bostoners to get together.

And the Girls put on a fun, well paced show, from what I could see. Cute, vivacious, some imaginative skits: cops, schoolgirls, cheerleaders, a pussycat (with the best song of the night!) , a light touch of bondage, some straight-ahead burlesque..lots and lots of hot fun! The whipped-cream and chocolate finale was delicious! Made me want to rush out and stock up on dessert toppings. But, that said, I was somehow expecting the Suicide Girls to push the envelope a little more...to challenge the idea of what a typical burlesque show is, and deliver something a little more punk rock and a little more, well, dangerous.

The bands were okay. I know most people weren't there for the bands, but it would have been nice to hear a good song or two. Also had some issues with the venue...maybe it was because the show was completely sold out (and the stage was ridiculously low), but it was really hard to see
anything in the beginning, except for some heads. An SG Boston friend of mine left somewhat disappointed & frustrated after the first performance because his view was completely blocked. I found that kind of sad...that a paying SG member chose to leave the event because he couldn't enjoy it. It was telling that the crowd thinned as the performances went on (not because of the Girls...they were great, as I said earlier, but probably because no-one could see the show). As the evening progressed, it was a little easier to move around and strategically place myself so I could see what was going on.

All in all, I think my criticisms are honest, but few and minor, especially considering that this was a first time event in Boston. I had a great time and definitely plan on attending any future SG happenings here!

It sounded fun, awkward & frustrating all in one fell swoop! shocked I'm happy that you were able to meet and greet some new faces in the SG Boston crowd...sounds as if in the long-run, that was the best thing to come from the evening. I originally was interested in attending the Providence show at the last minute but by your description, my decision to hang out w/ local SG peeps was the right one. wink

I agree with you on the venue comments...even a bit of a stage riser would have helped immesurably.
See you at MR tomorrow.
