Guess it's time for an update...

























This is the jointer that took the tip of my dad's courting finger, back in the early '90s. Those blades spin at 30,000 RPM, rendering any meat that ventures too close into a fine pink mist.

The amp is finally in one piece, last night was the first time I've fired it up as a unit. First time I've played through this speaker, too, and it's very tight, the doping needs to be limbered up. Brand new Webers sound pretty good out of the box, but sound REALLY good after you play through them for a few hours, so here I'm just banging away at some sloppy power chords.

I still have quite a bit of work to do before the amp is finished. I need to tweak the circuit, get the plate voltages where I want them, fiddle with bypass cap values, etc.

And when did I get so FAT?!?! Oh, prednisone, you've made me your bitch...

my cousin has this super neighbor named George. I'd guess him in his early 70's, but it's hard to tell for sure, he's hyper, kinda ADD. He just bought a mint police KZ1000, i rode it around yesterday to check it out for him. Those things are soooo smooth. after the police it only had 1 owner who put 1000 miles on it in however many years he had it, 10 maybe. chain (dry, filthy with stiff links) is soaking in diesel right now, it has a master link do you know if that's normal? I'm going to look for a press-on replacement. He had already taken it in for carb cleaning & oil change. valves aren't due for 10K miles & are quiet. (I assume the police had done the maintenance by the book schedule) 48K miles on it now. anything in particular I should look for? seems 100% solid to me.

fingers crossed, fellow should be coming up from lake havasu to pick up the r1 on saturday. I can pay off the credit cards i've been eating/paying bills on & have some mortgage payments in the bank. talked to a kid (22yrs old) on an rd350 about one of the RZ's...

the chain cleaned up beautifully, it's in fine shape. Nobody in town has a rivet 630 (in case the cops take to doing wheelies or towing cars?) master link so I've got one on order. It had a clip style, they always worry me. plus it was missing 3 of it's o-rings. I did write down KZrider.com inside the cover of his shop manual, but I kinda doubt he'll make use of it, no maintenance records in the manual.

I asked the fellow how much he paid, he said he has a thousand in the bike including the carb rebuild/oil change & that bill was $600. He got a smoking deal on this thing!
