Power's fixed!

It's amazing, and I truly love it when things work like they're supposed to.

The culprit:

See the little red bit there? That's a ground wire that had oxidized and was no longer conductive. Most of this stuff has been in place since about 1972...

So I started cleaning the shop, organizing my workbench, getting things in place to pick up where I left off with the custom amp project. One thing that's been bothering me for some time now is my desk lamp. It's one of those with the big magnifying lens on an articulated arm. The fucker kept sagging and wouldn't stay in place. I traced the problem to the plastic side plates for the elbow joint:

I traced the pattern onto some aircraft aluminum stock (great stuff, I make things out of it all the time and I'm running out!)

Drilled and cut:

Et voila!

The lamp stays where I put it now. Like I said: I love it when stuff works like it's supposed to...

Meanwhile, I've been busy outdoors, jacking the lumber. I've been taking advantage of the beautiful weather, trying to get stuff done before I go for my infusion in a couple days, knowing that will knock me on my ass for the rest of the week...

I take two sharp saws out with me, one large and one small:

I use Big Mac for the tree trunks, and the smaller Poulan for the limbs. When the saws get dull, I switch over to the hydraulic splitter. I've got several large piles of split firewood going, I'll have to stack it soon...

I've thought about selling some of this firewood, but I mentioned it to my dad and he nixed the idea. That's a bummer because seasoned oak is going for $80 a truckload and I could sure use the money, but they are his trees after all.
