It's after midnight, so that means it's now officially my 10th Annual 29th Birthday!
Since it's my birthday, you have to real all of this...
Long day today! Whew!
I got some done yesterday, forced myself to get dressed and go out to the shop, and there I just... puttered. That was nothing compared to today...
First I made a new threshold for the shop. The vinyl floor covering had been worn and ripped over the years and was looking pretty nappy, so I took an old steel shelf that'd been laying outside in the scrap pile for probably 20 years and cut off the corners and three of the sides, hammered it flat (it was pretty dented up), drilled holes and sank 36 screws in it.

Here's basically what the shop looks like now.
There's still a LOT of work ahead before it's fully functional.

Here's a peak inside my toolbox:
The front:

Up top, light rack and wire caddy (Thank you, Goodwill Industries.)

Left: measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, fretboard radius gauges, protractors, etc)
Center: various glues, odds & ends.
Right: Allen wrenches, Torx drivers, T-handle nut drivers (for adjusting truss rods).

Left: Marking tools (pens, pencils, markers, scribes, etc)
Center: Drill bits, nut drivers.
Right: My beautiful Japanese chisels, glue syringe, etc)

Neck pawl, Swedish cabinet scrapers, burnisher for scrapers, radiused sanding blocks.

Various files (mostly for fretting), file comb, surform, etc.

Razor saws, fret slot cleaning tool, gentleman's saw, etc.

Then there are the pans of odds and ends. I like to have a little compartmentalized trays close at hand while I work on something, so as to hold little screws and other parts. The thing is, there are always little parts left over, especially if I'm replacing them with upgraded parts or whatever. Thus you wind up with this:

I have to go through all of these and sort all the little parts into their various drawers...
The second half of my day started when my dad discovered that the water heater was leaking. I started disconnecting the old one while he went to Lowe's for a new one. Putting the new one in turned out to be a HUGE undertaking, hahaha! We finally got it all hooked up and watertight at 10:30 this evening!
I'm fucking sore and tired, I'm going to bed. I think I'll spend my birthday working in the shop...
