Had a great visit with my nieces this weekend, they really helped break me out of my funk! I heard that they were coming to visit, that they'd be here in an hour and suddenly I had a reason to take a shower and run the vacuum cleaner...
We had a great time! The weather was too cold and nasty to go outside much, so we stayed in and watched movies and ate junk food. I introduced them to motorcycle road racing, got them to watch a little bit of Dust to Glory (they were awed), and introduced them to Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Kung Fu Hustle. Then the 15 year old said she wanted to watch something scary, so I punched up the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead. She loved it, but thought it was a bit predictable.
This morning we ate pancakes and watched Mad Max II: The Road Warrior. (For you Mel Gibson haters in the audience, you should know that he has only 17 lines in that film.)
Then I got my hair braided!
They're really a couple of sweet, sweet kids. They totally understood about my cat and I got lots of hugs. The older one showed me her cell phone, the background on the display screen is a picture she took of Precious a few months ago.
