This guy emailed me some notes that he'd kept from when he built a circuit like this, and of the 30 pages of stuff was a diagram. I looked at it and suddenly it made sense. I went out to the shop and made the changes, fired it up and it screamed!

Yes, I know the guitar is out of tune, and this doesn't sound...

FUUUUUUUUUUCK!!

I've been at this all day, and the responses I've gotten back from various amp guys around the internet and the word I hear mostly is that I just need to get better at reading schematics in order to do this. I pose a simple fucking question and all I get in return is condescension, no real help.

why not just read the schematic...

Thanks, I hope she does too... but she's really really sick. The kind we can't fix.

As a big fat idiot, I take umbrage. In a different track, forums are full of self-serving assholes. The misses posted in a computer/geek forum about how to back up/transfer the files in my dying PC and she was told in more than one post, that if she/we weren't already backing up the harddrive, we're more or less lame and therefore we shouldn't even be asking questions.

Kind of a crazy day, but fun too!

First off, I slept until 3:00 pm.

I made my fabulous bratwurst migas with waffle fries. Yummm!

About 5:00 I went outside and fired up the little Kubota tractor and used the box blade attachment to smooth out the driveway. I put my little MP3 player on a lanyard and wore it around my neck, under my...

My biggest fear ever is being in a vehicle that gets drove into water. Even if I were on a lawn mower or tractor that I could just swim off of, just thinking about being in your shoes (and at night!) and almost backing into swampy waters makes me feel nervous. Seriously. I'm having a small panic attack inside right now. why were you mowing at night?? Don't freak my out like that! tongue

Oh shit! I copy/pasted that thing lickety split. Thanks, man!

Ack.

Okay, so I rode my motorcycle up to the OMRF yesterday. That's always fun, even if it is a bunch of I-40 (flat straight roads are boring). I got the usual stuff, though this time with a new nurse (the nurse who usually works with me is having a baby soon). I got an EKG this time, which apparently looked okay. I dodged a...

I don't do anything really interesting myself. The key is making oneself happy to replace the fact that the loved one isn't near.

My day was spent watching World Superbikes, F1,finding stuff for the guitar Im building on the bay then watching the GP.
I watched the GP on tv,sadly I couldnt get a flight. The sad realisation that Valentino isnt going to win the title this year has hit me and mad me very sad indeed ! Your boy Roger Lee Hayden did a good job though, especially in qualifying.
funkdubious:
Yeah,Ive rediscovered Mr Scary,i'm going through the bay trying to find guitar mags from the 80's and 90's.i've already done that with Vai and Zakk,it's costing a fortune!
I cant believe Stoner,he spent all last year on his arse and this year he's making everyone else look like they're on 250s.Like you said though, you cant knock him he's doing an outstanding job

Let's see... last night this dude out in west Texas IMed me. I've sorta known him for years, and we know a lot of the same people out there, and I kept running into him when I was on the road with the band. His son plays guitar in a band and he has like half...

I assume in about ten years the eyes will need another adjustment, that's been the pattern so far. This is the third operation I've had, the first was at age 17, the second at 27, now at 37.
The ZRX rocker set up is the only one I've seen like it. The cams are still directly over the valves, they just have the rocker's head between themselves and the shims. I can see this set-up helping to avoid tossing shims since there's only downward force applied, no linear. It's not as simple (manufacturing-wise) as shim under bucket nor as sturdy, but it's a dream as far as doing adjustments. having done 2 previous adjustments I'm betting I can knock it out in 2 hours. I'm dreading the valve situation on the R1 though. I guess the new 07's finally gave up on 5 valves per cylinder and went back to 4. It's unreal how many wires, hoses and do-hickeys are packed on top of the engine. & I've never had a bike with downdraft induction before. I'm assuming it's all got to come off.

Ow.

So you, faithful reader, know that I go walking about every evening around sundown, right? I'm trying to lose the weight that I gained while on prednisone, plus my doctor tells me that I have to lower my blood pressure or she's going to put me on medication for that, too. So I walk.

I started out walking about a mile. Then...

shellymc:
if i walked that much i would be in great shape...
but my lungs would probably collapse!

prednisone can make you a little chunky indeed,
sorry that your arthritis is acting up though.

maybe you should start out doing a little less miles and work your way up slowly?

then again, i'm a drunkard that smokes a pack a day...
so dont go taking any of my advice wink

Ahhhhh, I got my MP3 player to work! I spent about four hours on my aunt's computer yesterday, finally got it to flash on the new firmware and added a bunch of Neko Case, Tom Waits, Calexico, Beck, etc. What took the most time was trying to figure out Windows Media Player, which is a big piece of shit!

Today, however, I managed to use...

My MP3 player arrived! I got it for $17.49 (with shipping) on eBay, and this one actually works. The problem is that this computer uses Windows 98se, and Samsung doesn't make a driver for 98se, they expect everyone in the world to have upgraded to XP. Looks like I'm going to have to use my aunt's modern computer to put my music on there (and...
