House Of Whites! that's hilarious! It's disgraceful that I'm so far removed from the goings on in town that I didn't even know they were playing. Two of my favorite concert memories: Niel Young with Social D and Sonic Youth opening. 2- New Years Eve early 90s Social D played in a big tent outside a bar called Sneakers here in Vegas. Someone accidentally elbowed me in the lower lip sending my tooth clean through it. The hole was large enough that I could stick a cigarette in it and hold a conversation without removing it. good times!
Hmm...
I just got a call from Jack, my... my stepfather? My soon-to-be-ex-stepfather? The guy that my mother married and is now in the process of divorcing.
He tells me that my mother tried to kill herself last night.
She was sitting in her house with Simao & Nocia, the two kids that she adopted when she was a missionary in Mozambique. She was apparently...

shit man. Sorry you gotta deal with more of your Mom's drama, but don't take on any more than you want to. Sometimes a big breakdown can be the ticket to some needed help, I wouldn't know but maybe that'll be the case? Sure wish you get a hold of your friend though...
The holidays concentrate life down on people. If things are good then the holidays are extra nice. if things are shitty, then the holidays are extra shitty plus you gotta see all the extra happy people on top of it. Tomorrow I put up my new shotgun shell Christmas lights! (duh, I could have waited until next journal entry to mention mixing holidays and firearms. my social skill are lacking sometimes.- hope your friend is dealing alright.)

Everyone's nuts these days. It's the modern condition, eh?
A tough call. Sometimes though you really do have to make a decision to not get involved, and i think on this occaision, maintaining some distance is the thing to do. As you mentioned, it was right, indeed commendable for your father-in-law to get in touch, but given the history, i do think exercising some discretion and maintaining some distance is the right thing for you to do right now.
It's a tough situation they've put you in. We all want to do the right thing. But when a family routinely fails to make good on any sort of committment to you, but conversly expects you to step in as the sober, balanced, and rational person to manage and resolve crisis like the one you describe, eventually.. you have to say 'no more'. I think you can tell that i'm speaking from bitter experience.
Right now you have to focus on looking after number one, buddy. For serious.
As always, if you need / want to talk, just mail me at work or on MySpazz and i'll get in touch asafp.
Shiny side dude, shiny side up....

Sorry for the cryptic post...
I got my monthly infusion today, so I'm reeling from the side effects. Dizzy, nauseous, aching, headache, diarrhea... it's a lot like having the flu.
I'll be better in a few days.

Had an electrician out yesterday to look at the problem we've been having in the shop. For those of you just tuning in, there's a "see saw" effect in the electrical service in the shop where I build amplifiers and work on stuff. There are two circuits, and if you introduce a load on one of them, that voltage goes way down while...

Well not really, if you only open it a little and put the heater next to the open window or door it should heat up the air just enough.
Could you put one of those elastic wrist straps on, that may help a little bit.
He/she same thing, it is still cute.

The one thing my garage lacks is sufficient power. no electric heat for me either, but it's not an issue outside of january and february. I use propane to get the temp up quickly then set it as low as possible or off. The building is pretty porous so I'm not overly worried about oxygen. This doesn't solve your oxygen issue but seeing as how you've got some wood for this winter have you thought about building a little stove? Maybe out of a 20 gallon drum? cats are cool. that's why cool people get called "cat"
I was just thinking that it's been a long time since I heard from heterochromia, so I was gonna go say hi but she's gone
. I dropped out of myspace a while ago, tell her hi from me if you chat with her.

What did that poor tree ever do to you hahahahaha.
Today I overhauled the carburetor on an old McCulloch 610 chainsaw. This thing hasn't run in years, but I primed it and it started on the first crank! I celebrated by cutting up a bunch of the deadfall. See, my brother brought in a dozer a few years back and widened the driveway. He pushed down a bunch of trees, then pushed them into...

Damn you're a lean mean fixing machine, it seems like you can fix everything.
That sounds like a really good idea, having places for snakes to hide is never a good idea.

I'm tired, sore, and broke: It was a great weekend!
A friend rode up from Ft. Worth to hang out. I met her in a church parking lot on Hwy 9 (about the closest you'll get me to a church). When she showed up, she wouldn't come into the parking lot, but parked instead on the precariously narrow shoulder of the road. I thought at...

I really like your method of testing, get er up to ninety and see what happens. Nobody does that anymore, it's a dying art. or maybe it's not the art but the folks who do that who are dying? Glad to hear you got it taken care of.

i get to change my chain and sprockets soon - hopefully mine isn't as adventurous as your experience.

I could see the pipe flaring tool working to stake the pin. I've also heard of someone buying a cheap harbor freight c-clamp, removing the pivoting end and grinding the knob into a dull point. At the ZRX forums there's a community chain tool & a dibs thread. Whoever has it just mails it along to the next guy. The Rex forums are reason enough to own the damn bike.
