now that i have a venus flytrap, i want more. i want something bigger
i want a Dionaea!
im wondering if theres any place here in montreal where they sell those..

i was reading a FAQ about venus flytraps and read this:
Once a leaf stops functioning as a trapping leaf, it does not die. The trap stays green, but gets a funny outer-curling edge (see the photo to the right). Many times the leaves spread wide open so the lobes are about 180 degrees apart. The leaf now behaves like a simple, photosynthetic leaf. As long as nothing strange happens, this leaf may persist for many months. It is still providing the plant with the valuable service of making sugars by photosynthesis, so do not cut the leaf off!

so when the leaf looks like this, it wont close anymore:


the one where i put the fly in was exactly like that so i took the fly and put it in another trap. it closed right away! it almost snaped my finger!! how cool is that! it totally made my day.

now im gonna find another fly.... can a venus flytrap die from.. eating too much?
