Oh great bane upon my soul! Alas the time has come for me to do the laundry and pack my bags in preparation of a 20+ hour flight to Kwajalien. You know, I really love my job. Its the best job I've ever had, I don't even mind all of the flying between Alaska and Honolulu and Seattle. But Kwajalien!! That place is past the international date line. Its like along the equator somewhere underneath Japan. M-I-S-E-R-Y. It probably doesn't help that I always fly coach either. Anyhow, it will be great once I get there. Lots of OT, the open sea, the fresh fish prepped up by the galley. The night sky is probably the best. No light polution way out there. You can see every star in the Milky Way. So many of them, they look like flakes of powder. The flying fish are cool to watch too, them and all the squid that surface around the ship at night (they get drawn in by the lights when we do Conductivity, Temperature and Density test casts). Its the best job ever. Now if I can just land a gig as a DJ in a local strip club, I'll have the second best job ever for when I'm not at sea!!
