I'm seriously in a bad mood. The sour boy has returned with a vengeance. Part of it I think is do to this song. He's a partial lyric set from Depeche Mode:
Stripped
Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone
Let me see you
Stripped down to the bone
Let me hear you
Make decisions
Without your television
Let me hear you speaking
Just for me
The lyrics seem tame compared to the ferocity and power when combined with the music of DP. After 15 years, I finally picked up a copy of Black Celebration from my collection. That, and a half dozen other 'New Wave' classics from my past. At first, the nostalgia was entertaining. Remember a time when I used to listen to this music alot, the friends, moments, etc., seemed like a good thing. Then the good passed by, and the darker side of my life with this music reared its ugly head. The ex-girlfriends, the pain, misery, and all of the rest of the idiocy that came with the music. I forgot how goddamn hard moving from teenager to adulthood was for me.
So, with those unlocked memories and emotions comes the inevitable push of my subconscious into my sleep time. Thats the worst for me, as some of you that have bothered to actually read my journals know. I dream in almost complete clarity, and tend to remember everything. Two nights ago, it was my ex invaded my thoughts while dreaming, and it wasnt good. Confusion, pain, anger...you name it, the emotion popped up. And then for some reason last night it was my late HS/early college girlfriend's image that burned itself into my pysche for another rest period. Although not quite a traumatic as my recent ex, it still wasnt a good period in my life...and manifesting itself in my dreams didnt do me any good.
For the meantime, I've decided to lay off of the 'classics' until I get off this little bout of idiocy that I'm going through. The new Album from The HIves has been a really good deversion. Excellent riffs all about, as well as some catchy lyrics. All in all, a fun album. The latest from Alexisonfire really blew my mind as well. The interplay between hard, metal like chords and indy rock overtures played well with the two lyrics (again, one heavy/death metal like, and the other popish tones). Both albums are fucking brilliant...check em out if you get the chance.

It's funny how emotions attach themselves to music. Sometimes you don't even know it until you listen to a song 10 or 15 years later and realize that it makes you feel totally shitty (or otherwise). DP was considered dark stuff at one time. If you feel a need for nostalgia, pop some B-52s in that player of yours and fuggedaboudit.
I don't remember my dreams. Ever. Sometimes the dorky ones.
Haven't decided if this is good or bad...
we def need to try to get a drink in before Lufy hits the high-road to wanksville.
