These Boots Were Made for Walking
And That's Just What They'll Do
One Of These Days These Boots
Are Gonna Walk Right Over You
Yeah, I cant get Nancy Sinatra out of my head...go figure.
ANYWAY...I've made it back successfully from my trip to SXSW in Austin. First of all I must say that I had a fucking BLAST! It's been about 7 or 8 years since I last set foot in the Tex-ASS capitol (which was also a SXSW trip) and I'm goddamn sorry that it took me so long to get back! It was really an incredible time. We drank alcohol non-stop, moved around from bar's and gig halls non-stop, seeing every band/musician that we could find time for. The only real regret was that I didnt find all of my old friends living in Austin, and the fact that I didnt stay longer nor pony up for the super-duper ass-wipe gig passes. Next year, Im sporting the whole dilly-o though. I'm even planning on hitting the main cheeseball convention in order to smooze with ass-wipes and get free shit. Hell, Ill just write it off my taxes as a business expences. Hurray for the media!
Some of the highlights of our time there including Mojo Nixon at the Cadillac Bar, my buddy Delbert puking up the Jim Beam shot I bought him at the Subpop Showcase at the Ritz while not getting caught or kicked out, pulling a groin muscle while trying to sprint to the Alice Donut show at the 710 Club, and saying 'hi' to Mr. Lifto at the Camino.
Here's a short list of some of the gigs we saw:
The Bronx
The Von Bondies
Alice Donut
Preston School of Industry
Red Giant
Speedealer
Pretty Girls Make Graves
The Constantines
Kinksi
The Catheters
Mission of Burma
Seachange
Sasquatch
The Killers
Mojo Nixon
Southern Culture on the Skids
The Greenhornes
Stellastar*
The Dragons
The Riverboat Gamblers
The Smugglers
Right...there were a few more during the WAY cool day shows, but I cant recall them all right now. Next year, its the full deal...hotel downtown, staying the whole week, doing the DEAL. Ill post a few of the pics from trip...not too many, though. I was goddamn stupid...forgot my camera half of the time, the other half I was too drunk to take shots!

Its such a great ballad. Its not your typical cheesey, overly sappy love song. Its just kinda nice....makes ya feel good and gives ya hope. Just as a good song should
i really don't know the Vines that much. i went more for Jet and they were great. you know, it isn't like their music is anything super creative but it gets you shakin tail. the Vines had a very energetic set and were great to watch. i'd see them again.
glad to hear you had a successful evening also.
