I'm currently finishing up the final prep on my latest music blog entry. A couple of new music pieces just flew onto my radar, so I'm changing gears and force feeding you this update. Also of note, all of the acts listed below are from the greater Phoenix, AZ metro area. Those heat-misers are really putting out some great musical acts...puts my hometown to shame, a little...

The Sonic Thrills (http://www.myspace.com/thesonicthrills): Out of Tempe comes the quintet The Sonic Thrills. They dont seem to have their stuff together in terms of promotion, besides the MySpaceMusic hit. And the same goes for their supposed Record Label, Truxton Records (a Phoenix label, apparently). I couldnt find squat off of the web. Still, theyve got an album coming out soon, and the four tracks on MSM gives you a really good sample of what these guys have to offer. In your face, 70s Punk smeared Garage rockn roll with with a tinge of soul for good measure. The crusty vocals and scratchy guitar licks are top notch. Also, each song has a little different flair to it, what seems to be a promise of a nice full length LPif I can ever find a way to GET it without traveling to the Sun City.

Hell on Heels (http://www.myspace.com/leshellonheels and bomp.com/HoH.html): Another Phoenix favorite, the foursome known as Hell on Heels are made up of members of another infamous lady band known as The Peeps. Theyve got a full length LP on Bomp! Records, home to some really kick ass garage music. These ladies are no exception to that rule, thankfully. They put out some fun, bubble-gum 60s flavored RockN Roll that would break your teeth if you tried to actually chew on any of it. And dont even think about blowing a bubble. Nice music hooks, not to mention some snarling vocals that remind me of that drunk-chick with the tattoos at the bar that wants to beat the crap out of you if you dont buy her a Jack Daniels shot pretty damn soon. Definitely worth checking out if youre a fan of The Eyeliners, Joan Jett, and girls that can beat the tar out of you with one hand tied behind their backs.

Flathead (http://www.myspace.com/flatheadaz and flatheadaz.com): What kind of state would Arizona be without a little bit of Cowpunk? Well, it would still be hot as shit during the summer, but most likely a little boring as well. Thankfully, youve got acts to see in Tempe, Arizona like Flathead. These Rockabilly jamsters play some great music, mixing up several of the western music genres into a nice tasty meal. Fans of Merle, Cash, Hank (I and III), and everything in-between will no doubt enjoy this Arizonas brand of Hillbilly blues. If you cant find the album, head over to www.CDBaby.com.

White Demons (http://www.myspace.com/whitedemons and whitedemons.com): Ive sent the link about this band to a few friends before. The Phoenix supa-group knows as the White Demons have finally put out a full length release on Sonic Swirl Records, and its a nice piece of work. Taking their cues from such old school legends as the MC5 and The Stooges, these boys put out some serious ass-whooping Punkn Roll suitable for the masses and fanboys alike. They're loud, obnoxious, ugly, leather wearing boozehounds, which makes them immediate candidates for one of my favorite found bands this year. Head over to www.sonicswirlrecords.comi f you're looking to pick up their latest cheap.

Thats about it for the update. Ill have more within the next few days, so make sure to check it out soon. And as usual, please let me know what you think of the bands, music, my underwear, and the how the situation in the Middle East can be resolved. -Grim

Rob said you guys were carpet shopping yesterday. How much painting do you still have to do? Hey...my offer still stands...if you need any help you know where to reach me.

We walked by your new neighborhood this weekend and was trying to figure out which building you will be inhabiting.
