Woot man. got to see The Twilight Singers last night. Of course, it was a fucking awesome show. It always shows you how good a band truly is, when you can see them for 5 years straight and STILL be blown away by the music. Greg Dulli is by far one of the most versatile and talented musician/singer/songwriters I've ever known. Last night's show including versions of music from their new album, the other two original Twilight Singers LP's, and a few from Greg's Solo album AND the Afghan Whigs. All of that music in just under two hours. Really a treat, I must say...if you missed it, I feel extremely sorry for you. Ass.

On the Music Front, I've been listening to some new music procured off of smaller labels. This includes:

The Earaches - DIY Punk Rock straight out of the NorthWest. These guys are seasoned musicians and partiers, and you can feel it in their music. Tinged with catchy guitar riffs, mangy vocals, and pure unadulterated energy, The Earaches remind me of the second wave/ late 70's British Punk...just when people realized they could still have tuned instruments and be true to themselves as well. Really good music here, from start to finish. Not only that, but their latest album is on Philly's homegrown record label Steel Cage Records. Definitely worth checking out, ladies.

Also found on Steel Cage Records is the Local Philly boys, The JukeBox Zeros. More on the Rock'N Roll side of the spectric, a'la The Replacements, this band really puts out some great booty shaking garage rock. They're opening up for Theo and The Skyscrapers next month at the Khyber and I cant WAIT to see them crank it out live.

I talked about the LA Super ground known as Charley Horse in my last blog a bit. I couldnt help but to rave over their Punk infused Rockabilly amalgalm of music that I heard as a sampler on the web. Now, I have the full record straight from Aecetate Records and I CANNOT get enough! Each song breathes with its own life, throwing out hero guitar twangs one moment, and old school Rockabilly backbeats the next (with a few oddball samples just to add to the menagerie). Charley Horse is easily one of my favorite bands for 2006. Definitely check them out if you haven't already...

Last night was super super fun! I'm glad we went! The band was really good!

Even thought the naked drummer was a bit scary.
