This was originally a post to my bud shadyvito but it seemed worthy enough of a full Update in the old Blog-o-sphere.

What's been in my current rotation as of late has been the newer tunes I've picked up. Alot since I got back from SxSW. It seems that Punk'nRoll has really been pushed to the forefront of my music listening experience as of late. These bands have been making the top list (BTW, all of the links I'm sending have music samples on them of the bands):

The Lords of Altamont - high energy garage rock that get the booty shaking.

The Million Dollar Marxists - Reminiscent of New Bomb Turks mixed up with Naked REaygun. Loud, fierce, yet fun. Great stuff.

The Riverboat Gamblers - I saw these guys play a few weeks ago and picked up their latest album. Again, high energy rock'n roll with some real catchy grooves mixed in.

You'll notice the 'Punk'nRoll theme' when you read between the lines of those three bands. It's been infiltrating my collection like you wouldnt believe. However, some other newer material has also come to the forefront of my music as of late:

The Twilight Singers - ex-Frontman of the pivotal Cinn City band, The Afghan Whigs takes the thickly layered rock and soul sounds that made his earlier material so incredible making it even more coherent. The new album 'Powder Burns' is just unbelievable. Soulful and quiet in certain places, loud and powerful in others.

The Weepies - This is where you can really see the change of pace in my musical tastes. The Weepies take two incredible solo singer/songwriters (female and male) and splice their work to create one of the most listenable folk styled ablums in years. Surpisingly, the change-ups within each song is so subtle, it keeps you glued to the stereo.

http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=33547262 - The last bit of music in my current list is a group straight out of Rockabilly Hell: Charley Horse. Take one part each of The Cramps, Throwrag, and Nashville Pussy...put them together in a room, and see them rock the hell out. Fast Paced Rock-n-roll mixed in with some Rockabilly and a few punk flavored guitar shrieks to make things interesting. Some seriously great stuff...
