OK...still working on my SXSW review. Im fucking lame, I know. In the meantime, I've seen a couple of shows here in Philly (and had a few pre-show drinks with Mr.Seaniefresh).
Wed: Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I've waited a couple of years to see them play. And to be honest, I wasnt impressed. Karen seemed like a lot of fun. She was enjoying herself and the music, which is cool. They played mostly new songs, which wasnt that bad...save for the fact that I havent bought the new album yet. HOWEVER, they only played about 3 songs from the 1st LP. Y Control, Maps, and Tick (the last two were in the encore). The total time they played? roughly 45 minutes. Yep...that's it. And for 30 bucks a ticket, I was pissed off. I guess I wont be seeing them again in the near future.
Thur: The Spunks/Gito Gito Huslter: A really kick ass show at the North Star. Gito is an all girl punk rock/pop band from Japan. Really cute, really funny, and great music. I got a hug from the lead singer! Woot! The Spunks are a three person outfit almost from Japan (the drummer is a Westerner). Really loud and really good too. It was tons of fun at the gig with Apocalypsedude and his wifey Aponia..
