Yesterday I bounced back up to 170 lb. I was very unhappy about seeing that 7 again. This morning I weighed in 167.5. I know that weight can fluctuate within 24 hours but Ive never seen my body do 2 lbs. in one day. Im a boy; I dont have a period, so I have no clear explanation.

This started me thinking about how we conceptualize the body and the self as being separate from the universe. Here was evidence at how foolish this concept is. In the space of a day the processes of eating/shiting, drinking/peeing, inhaling/exhaling, shedding skin/growing skin etc. has made this beautiful/ugly, durable/fragile, living/rotting thing called body decrease its complex composite mass by two and half lbs.

The air in front of your face, is it part of you? How about after you inhale?

Your mind after reading this, is it the same as before? Will it ever be exactly the same again? Is it really separate from my mind now that we have shared these thoughts?

Everything is interconnected. All conditions are impermanent. There is no self-nature that is separate.

There is a Zen Koan that comes to mind.
What was your original face before you were born?

Funny, I was starting to think that writing about my diet in this journal was boring.

Okay... this was all very zen!

a couple of pounds in one day is no big deal... even for a guy!

to help... the EMO label basically came about how cherry said in her post. but if you want the archetypical band, the ones who started the whole thing... just get one record from dischord label, a band from ian mackeye (fugazi, minor threat, etc)

the band and the self titled album is EMBRACE. an amazing album and a way to truly know what emo is and where it was born from.
