I've been giving some serious thought to getting my first tattoo. I'm a little worried though. I want very detailed picture, and I don't want to trust just anyone to it, you know? How does one go about finding a trustworthy, friendly and talented tattoo artist? What would one expect to pay? I'm guessing it will be around 3x3 or 4x4 (inches). It's going to be of an insect, I just have to find the right picture now. I'm really not too concerned about the price, if the quality is there.

Pretty hard to screw up getting an ear pierced, but a tattoo is a-whole-nother story.

I'm thinking of something like this:

or this:

Just the bee.

Oh well. It took me five years befoer I finally got my ear pierced. Who knows how long before I get the tattoo. Hopefully sooner.

those are some pretty detailed pics. my suggestion would be just comparing artists' portfolios. one artist might be absolutely amazing at lifelike rendering, but could just be adequate at tribal, or more importantly, vice versa. above all, take your time. don't feel bad for turning down an artist or two. this artwork is gonna be on your body forever, not theirs.

heh and what's with all the misc. re-renderings of everyone else's journal entries hmm? someone been bored? ; )
