I'm rethinking my hopes of trying to go from being an SG Photographer Hopeful to an SG Photographer.

You can see my latest online altercation here: http://suicidegirls.com/groups/SGPhotographerHopefuls/topics/322846/

It wasn't pretty and while I DO have difficulty accepting criticism, I think I still have a point. Namely the SG Hopeful, whom I never named, viewed the images during and after the shoot and liked them. I sent her a CD of the images two days after the shoot as we agreed with all of the images we shot. She acknowledged a week after she got the CD that she had it, but didn't realize that the CD was on her desk as her roommate didn't tell her it arrived. Then nothing. At this point it's been three or four weeks since I've heard anything.

And I've had email discussions with several (four or five) local SG Hopefuls who posted they were looking for a photographer and one actual (now archived I see) SG whom I exchanged a number of emails (including my resume and model release, and link to my online modeling portfolio) that have gone nowhere.

I'm frustrated with it!

I guess I shouldn't "whine" in the Photographers Hopeful forum.

And I shouldn't be surprised that I'm told my profile is lame, or creepy, or that I'm acting like an ass. But I didn't seek to be insulted either!

And among the comments folks made, there are things I do need to do like expand my profile and add modeling pictures if future models I work with ok it.

And I still maintain the position that I will not post pictures of other models I worked with if they haven't signed a release saying it's ok! My releases are VERY specific as to where I can post the images and several have crossed out SG on the release for their own reasons. One has since said she's ok with it and once I get the written release from here, I may post the pictures... But I'm not sure it's worth the effort at this point.

I like the photography here and find the photos worthy successors to the glamour photography that began with the Bettie Page era... I was hoping to expand the range of the work I've done with models and maybe make a little money at it as well.

SO am I creepy, lame and an ass?
lauralily:
I don't think you're creepy or an ass, but there are other ways of sharing your work with SG members and staff without posting the pictures direct to the site, why not just post some links in your journal to where you can find examples of your work, this way it isn't upsetting any models who have signed the release saying they don't want to be shown on SG.

As a photographer myself, I know it can be hard to accept criticism but its all a part of the job, its not always meant to be offensive just constructive and make us better at the job we love.

I've put the links in my profile, but here's the main one I use for modeling pictures:

http://www.onemodelplace.com/member.cfm?P_ID=14240

I've posted the link before and that fact seems to get ignored in the flame-fest of the forums.

But it's just as well as I've decided that a couple years of being here and not getting any follow through from SG hopefuls... My expereince here has pretty much soured me on the SG "community".

When my membership expires, I'm planning on not renewing it.
